WORKPLACE APPROVAL FOR OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Dear Valued Stakeholder,
The Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority’s (MICT SETA) Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA)division extends its sincere appreciation for your continued cooperation and commitment during this transition period. We recognise the increased complexity this phase has introduced for all our partners.
While managing the transition, the ETQA is currently encountering delays in processing workplace approval applications. We acknowledge that this function is critical to ensuring the quality of learner placements and mitigating the risk of inappropriate workplace environments.
To address capacity constraints while maintaining the integrity of the approval process, the ETQA has resolved to implement the following interim measure:
Workplace approval will now only be required one (1) month prior to the placement of learners within the workplace.
This adjustment is intended to:
- Allow sufficient time for thorough review and quality assurance of applications.
- Alleviate immediate administrative pressures during the transition.
- Prevent unnecessary delays in learner placements.
- Maintain essential safeguards to ensure all workplaces are appropriately vetted.
Stakeholders are reminded that no learner may be placed in a workplace that has not been approved. To ensure a smooth process, SDPs are encouraged to plan proactively and submit workplace approval applications at least two months in advance of intended placement dates.
The ETQA remains committed to improving turnaround times and strengthening operational capacity – for any Enquiries, please contact Ms. Lesha Singh at Lesha.singh@mict.org.za
We thank you for your patience and continued partnership as we work to uphold the quality of the skills development ecosystem.
Yours in Skills Development,
MICT SETA
