Invitation for Applications | MICT SETA partners with SMEgo Pitchathon 2025

Dear Valued Stakeholder,

 The MICT SETA is proud to collaborate with Old Mutual SMEgo as a strategic partner in the second edition of the SMEgo Pitchathon. This exciting initiative aims to support and empower black SME’s in the ICT and Financial Services sectors, in line with our shared commitment to driving innovation, growth and economic inclusion.

 Through this partnership, established through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), we are pleased to amplify opportunities for SMMEs to thrive.

This year’s Pitchathon offers a prize pool of R4.2 million, marking an increase of over R1 million from the 2024 edition. A total of fourteen (14) winning businesses will each receive R300,000 towards their business needs and development.

 The closing date for applications is 15 August 2025. The pitch battle (pitch presentations) will take place in two cities, Johannesburg and Cape Town, at the Old Mutual offices respectively.

 Pre-qualifying criteria to enter competition

Entry requirements:

• Applicants must subscribe on any SMEgo Plan with a minimum of R299 or above

• Must be CIPC registered

• BEE: Must be minimum 51% black owned

• Industry: ICT / Financial Services (applicants in the Financial Services sector must be registered with the relevant regulatory authority)

• Annual Turnover: R500K – R50M

• Operating Period: at least 6 months and above

• Must not be employed by, or currently providing services to Old Mutual Limited or its subsidiaries 

 Documents to upload: 

• CIPC registration document

• BEE certificate

• Business plan/proposal

• Copy of ID
