SABC and MICT SETA Internship Launch and Learnership Graduation

According to the National Development Plan, by 2030 Government will make extensive use of Information Communication Technologies (ICT’s) to engage with and provide services to citizens. All South Africans will be able to use core ICT services and enjoy access to a wide range of entertainment; information and educational services. Thus, it has become imperative for the Media Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) to work on collaboration and partnership opportunities with Institutes of Sectoral or Occupational Excellence (ISOEs) such as SmartXchange to ensure that skill levels meet the current and future demands of ICT. ISOEs make a difference because their approach to skills development is usually innovative and niche. They have a high impact on changing the lives of the youth in that almost all who went through ISOE interventions are either employed or have successfully started their small enterprises.

Such partnerships ensure that the MICT SETA’s strategic outcomes of increasing access to occupationally directed learning programmes and improving the workplace capacity to meet workplace skills development needs within the MICT sector are achieved.

MICT SETA through SmartXchange has funded 100 SMMEs in various skills programmes. It is our belief that these SMME’s will not only contribute to growing the ICT sector, but also make a valuable contribution by providing their employees and young people with skills so that they are better equipped to participate in the economy.

Over the years we are proud to have partnered with SmartXchange who are continuously willing to grow and work with SMMEs in driving skills transfer and transformation successfully within the ICT sector. We fully recognise and appreciate your contribution to skills development in our sector specifically on SMMEs.

I wish to congratulate SmartXchange on the successful implementation of their incubator programme and wish them success in their future endeavours.
