Dear Valued Stakeholder,

We are pleased to share that the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) has officially entered into a strategic partnership with the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) to accelerate digital skills development and innovation across South Africa.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on 23 June 2025 at MICT SETA’s offices in Midrand, during a formal ceremony attended by leadership from both organisations.

This multi-year collaboration will focus on the joint development and implementation of skills programmes aligned to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), with the goal of advancing economic participation, employment readiness, and innovation in South Africa’s growing digital economy.

Key highlights of the partnership include:

Co-funded learning programmes focused on digital skills, innovation, and incubation
Internship and bursary opportunities for youth, women, and persons with disabilities
The establishment of a Research Chair in Innovation Management
Support for entrepreneurship and start-up incubation
Development of Digital Hubs and 4IR Centres to expand access to innovation infrastructure

Through this partnership, the MICT SETA reaffirms its commitment to driving transformation by supporting equitable access to education, innovation, and economic opportunity.

We believe that this collaboration will not only strengthen the National System of Innovation (NSI) but also play a meaningful role in shaping a future-ready workforce – one that is equipped to meet the demands of an increasingly digital world.

Together, let’s empower South Africans through skills, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Yours in Skills Development
MICT SETA
