THE MICT SETA ANNOUNCES MATOME MADIBANA AS THE NEW CEO

Matome Madibana has been officially appointed as Chief Executive Officer at the Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA).

Mr Madibana has worked with the MICT SETA for several years and has held the positions of Senior Manager in Corporate Services, Acting Senior Manager: Education Training and Quality Assurance as well as Acting CEO.

In addition to his 20 years of experience in Human Resources and Corporate Services, he also holds an Honours B. Admin Degree in Industrial and Organisational Psychology. He has previously held various positions at the Office of the Premier in Limpopo, Dept of Justice & Constitutional Development, Limpopo Gambling Board and Molemole Local Municipality under Capricorn District Municipality.

“We are excited to officially appoint Mr Madibana as the new CEO of the MICT SETA commencing 1 May 2022. We believe this is the right decision especially after he has successfully navigated the organisation and sector through the COVID-19 pandemic wherein digital transformation is at the forefront of the global agenda. In his role as Acting CEO, he has demonstrated great leadership and sector understanding and we believe with his experience and tenacity, he will continue to steer the organisation as it fulfils its mandate,” said Mr Simphiwe Thobela, Chairperson of the MICT SETA board.

The appointment comes at a vital time as the MICT sub-sectors, now more than ever, need to pioneer digital advancement to ensure South Africa and its workforce are geared up for the future of work. The MICT SETA propels digital learning in South Africa, all while addressing the skills shortage, skills planning and skills development in disadvantaged communities and SMMEs that will serve as a bridge into the world of work.

The MICT SETA plays a pivotal role in achieving South Africa’s skills development and economic growth within the sub-sectors it operates namely; Advertising, Film and Electronic Media, Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications.
