Impact of Non-Payment of Stipends and MICT SETA’s Zero Tolerance Policy

  2.  | Zero Tolerance for Unpaid Stipends

Dear Valued Stakeholder,

We remind all stakeholders of the critical importance of honouring stipend payment obligations as per SLA to learners enrolled in MICT SETA-funded programmes. Despite our previous communications, it has come to our attention that some stakeholders continue to delay or fail in their responsibility to pay learner stipends.

This non-compliance severely impacts learners’ ability to focus on their training and development, undermining their progress and well-being. Furthermore, such practices contradict the values of accountability and professionalism that we uphold as a sector committed to empowering South Africa’s future workforce.

We reiterate:

Stipend payments must be made on time, in full, and without unnecessary delays.

Learner placement, as agreed upon in Service Level Agreements, must be fulfilled to ensure their growth and industry readiness.

Non-compliance measures:

Stakeholders failing to comply may face contractual penalties, reputational harm, and exclusion from future collaborations with the MICT SETA.

We trust that you will continue to honour your commitments and join us in building a culture of trust, accountability, and shared success for our learners.

Yours in Skills Development

MICT SETA
